We left our hotel in Bismark, ND this morning headed to Billings, MT. Our first stop was Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Teddy spent a lot of time in this part of the country and lived here during his twenties.
The landscape is very different from anything we are use to. There are crazy rock formations and lots of prairie.
The trees are definitely turning here with tons of bright yellow.
Lots of buffalo, some very close to the road. There were some babies too.
In addition to the buffalo, there are prairie dog towns around every corner and these cute little black tailed prairie dogs!
We continued on down the road and right before we reached Montana we stopped at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. The two day battle took place here and over 200 army troops were killed. This is where Custer’s Last Stand took place.
When we reached Billings we stopped to eat dinner before checking into our hotel. We ate at Montana’s Rib and Chop House and it was great! Gumbo, Cajun Pasta Jambalaya and Chicken Fried Chicken.
We checked into our hotel, the Northern, for the night. It is beautiful and right in downtown Billings. We will sleep good tonight.
