Traveling Abroad These Days

We are safely in the UK at Lindsey’s adorable house in Bury St. Edmonds!  We will be in quarantine for 10 days so most of my pictures and stories for the next few days will be from around Bury on our daily walks and trips to the market.

So what is travel like these days?  Lots of advanced planning and tests.  Even though we are fully vaccinated, in order to enter the UK from an amber country (the US is amber right now) we had to have covid tests within 72 hours of leaving the US.  Along with our passports we must have negative test results, proof that we have scheduled additional covid tests on day 2 and day 8, and completed locator information showing where we will be for our 10 days of quarantine.  So lots of stuff, but so worth it to be here with our girl!

Our flight was easy and uneventful.  More people are traveling now but the flights are still not full.  We chose British Airways for our flights because we love them, but also so Jeff could fly on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the newest airliner made.  We had our row to ourselves so we could spread out a little.  They feed you well on these flights and we were able to sleep a good 3-4 hours, thankfully.

On arrival at Heathrow we were met by our lovely girl and were whisked to her home in Bury.  There were no problems arriving at Heathrow and we only had to show passports to proceed.  It was pouring rain but still a beautiful drive to Bury.

We made a quick trip to the market, took a small nap, and settled in.

Life Is Good!!
