Hopefully this will change soon, but for now we still have to quarantine for a bit when we arrive in England. So we are taking lots of walks and visiting the market, which is allowed.
Grocery shopping here is interesting. They do not use preservatives here so you buy groceries every few days. Also, most folks walk to the store so you don’t want to buy more than you can carry home. Things are packaged different too and your amounts are in grams so you have to do some math if you’re using a favorite recipe from home. Baking is different too but most things are fairly easy to figure out.
The flowers and gardens here are absolutely amazing and beautiful! It’s fun just walking around every day to see the area. The town Lindsey lives in is so quaint and very English. There is a beautiful old Abbey here with gardens all around it. It’s quite large and you could spend hours there. There are window boxes everywhere and bright colorful doors up and down the streets.
Every Wednesday and Saturday there is a market in the town center and it is delightful! All kinds of fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, and lots of other good things. Town square is literally right up the road from Lindsey’s house. We enjoyed the market on Saturday.
Lindsey has a beautiful walled garden behind her house and her flowers are gorgeous too. She has a gardener who comes every other week to cut the grass and take care of the flowers.
We are enjoying her home and her cute little town. Bury St Edmunds is the #2 town on the list of best little towns in England and we would agree!
Yay Mum & Dad - I love your posts!
