Loch Ness and Oban

We started our day with a cruise on Loch Ness.  We were the only ones on our boat so it was delightful.  Loch Ness is the largest lake in the UK and the deepest lake in the world at over 800 feet.  There have been over 1000 spottings of Nessie thru the years, but we didn’t see her.

After checking in we set sail on Loch Ness.  It is absolutely beautiful everywhere you look!

As we continued on towards Fort William and Oban the mountains started showing up.  Absolutely stunning scenery!

We had lunch in Fort William at a cute little pub.  We are enjoying the food here very much.

Bangers and mash

Cheese Toastie

Mac and cheese

We spent the afternoon in the charming bayside town of Oban - home of Oban Whiskey Distillery.  It is right on the bay that heads out to the Atlantic Ocean so lots of boats here.

Dinner in Oban was delicious with seafood coming right in off the boats.

Lobster bisque

Tortellini

Seafood chowder

Cheesecake

Fish and chips

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Sorbet

Salmon

Leek and potato soup

After dinner we headed up to McCaigs Tower for some overviews of Oban.

This tower is like a mini colosseum on the hilltop

Home for the next few days is an Air B&B in Fort William/Inverlocky.

We caught a rainbow tonight that was beautiful.  We really enjoy staying in Air B&Bs because there is so much more room to spread out.  It is much nicer than a hotel.
