Culloden and Scotch Whiskey

After breakfast today we headed to Culloden Battlefield. This was the final battle of the Jacobite Rebellion in 1746.  Over 1500 Jacobites were killed and only about 20 Redcoats.  The battle only lasted a little over 30 minutes.

There are Clan Stones throughout the field remembering the different clans who fought.

If you’re an Outlander fan you know this

We stopped to view some coos - Scottish cows - along the way.  They are quite interesting!

We toured the Glenfiddich Distillery this afternoon.  The history behind Scotch Whiskey is very interesting and this area is home to the Malt Whiskey Capitol of the World.  I don’t like whiskey but this place is beautiful and the tour was fun.

Tasting

This place is beautiful!

This is a bathroom y’all!  Unbelievable!

They are holding a bottle of whiskey that cost 26,000 pounds!  Yikes!!

William Grant and his wife who founded Glenfiddich Distillery!

We stopped at Clava Cairns also.  It has ancient burial grounds that date back to 2000 BC and some standing stones.

Thank goodness she didn’t disappear!
