Today was our last full day in Scotland so we packed in a lot. Our day began at Linlithgow Palace - where King James V and Mary Queen of Scots were born. It is closed for structural assessment but the grounds are open.
Next up was Hopetoun House which was also used in Outlander as the Duke of Sandringham’s home. It’s huge!
After a late lunch we stopped to see the famous kelpies - mythical water horses that pay homage to the work horses of Scotland. They are the largest equine sculptures in the world and are quite impressive!
Our last stop of the day was to see the mechanical wonder - The Falkirk Wheel. It moves boats to different levels of the canal by loading them in a wheel and rotating it 180 degrees to the next level of the canal. It’s pretty amazing and the only one in the world.
It has been an absolutely amazing 8 days and tomorrow we head back to England and find more fun places to explore.
