Big Bear to Henderson, NV to Zion

I didn’t blog the last few days because we were enjoying wonderful fellowship with our precious friends in Henderson, Greg and Diane.

We left Big Bear on Sunday headed for Henderson.  We stopped at a Route 66 Museum:

Huge cactus

And a stop at one of the original Harvey House Hotels (Fred Harvey built these hotels all along the train routes for passengers to sleep and eat) and a train museum:

And if you’re in the west you have to eat at “In-N-Out”!  It’s a staple here and the food is great and they have Bible verses on all their paper products.

We made it to Henderson, NV and enjoyed a great visit with the Masons.

We had a lovely dinner at Claim Jumpers and had the biggest piece of chocolate cake I’ve ever seen and even with all 4 of us sharing we couldn’t eat it all!

We headed for Zion this morning passing some iconic Las Vegas places.

Raiders Stadium right on the strip

Stratosphere

We headed into Zion and spent the afternoon in the Canyon marveling at everything around us.  You have to ride shuttles through the park now so that added a little adventure to the day but we managed to see all we wanted to see.

Slightly out of order here but you do what you can without your big computer!

We are staying in a lovely little cottage right outside the entrance to Zion.  We love it!

We had a delicious dinner tonight at Switchback Grill and we couldn’t even finish it all.  So good!

Jeff had Ahi Tuna and Shrimp

I had bison and pork meatloaf wrapped in bacon with whipped potatoes and gravy and we shared cream corn.  I couldn’t finish half of mine!

We started with clam chowder and it was so good but I should have skipped it so I could eat all my dinner.  We didn’t even think about dessert!
